Collaborative Efforts: Promoting Interdisciplinary Scholars, 2/05
CEDD Representatives Stephanie Pfirman and Tony Michaels are among the co-authors of this Chronicle of Higher Education article.

The CEDD Interdisciplinary Tenure and Career Development Committee (ITCDC), formed in the Fall of 2006, works to facilitate the development and tenuring of interdisciplinary scholars. The committee has created online resources to guide institutions in fostering and promoting interdisciplinary scholars.

The resource is formatted as a clickable matrix containing policy recommendations, timelines, checklists, sample language and case studies for each stage of interdisciplinary career development: position creation and institutional acceptance, search and hiring, junior development and protection, portfolio preparation and evaluation, and senior development.

New!
Interdisciplinary Hiring, Tenure and Promotion: Guidance for Individuals and Institutions

The Council of Environmental Deans and Directors (CEDD) of the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) is pleased to announce a new online resource: Interdisciplinary Hiring, Tenure and Promotion: Guidance for Individuals and Institutions . “Guidance” presents the first comprehensive approach that deals with the entire pre- and post-tenure experience.  It addresses issues faced by both faculty and research scientists, raising points for consideration and providing recommendations with examples.  The resource is designed to help guide individuals, as well as institutions, in fostering and promoting interdisciplinary scholars throughout their career.
